Map shows route from Arklow. Note : you have to divert off the N11 main road into Arklow town to get onto the R747 for Woodenbridge.

From Rosslare Harbour
Distance : 109km
Travel Time : Up to 3 hours

Join the N11 north for Arklow Town(a distance of 83km). You will see the signs on the dual carriageway for Arklow so take the first exit off the main road and proceed towards the town. The road into Arklow town is known as the Wexford Road. On the way into Arklow you will pass a large Tesco Supermarket on the right hand side. This is a handy spot to pull in for a quick break. The Supermarket has a small sit down area for Tea/Coffee and snacks.

A short distance after Tesco you will come to a mini round-about (turnabout). Proceed straight through this junction, following the signage for the R747 to Woodenbridge.

Proceed along the R747 until you come to a junction where you will see a hotel called “Woodenbridge Hotel”. Follow the main road around to the right onto the R752 towards the village of Avoca (where the famous TV series, Ballykissangel was filmed). A short distance up the road from the Woodenbridge Hotel there is a spectacular view all the way down the Vale of Avoca and the superb Woodenbridge Golf Club. The R752 skirts along the side of Avoca Village and proceeds towards Rathdrum where you should take the left turn into Rathdrum village onto the R755. Proceed through the narrow street through the village heading towards Laragh.

The total distance from Woodenbridge to Laragh is some 25km.

In Laragh take the left turn onto the R756. Glendalough is 2km ahead.

Total distance from Rosslare to Glendalough is 109km. This journey will take you 2.5 to 3 hours as a lot of the journey is on winding secondary roads.
