Glendalough - stunning at any time of year

It is no wonder that Glendalough is one of the top tourist attractions in Ireland. It is but a short distance away from Ireland’s busiest roads and yet, to visit Glendalough is to literally step back in time. Anyone that tires of the sights in Glendalough is surely tired of life (that quote is adapted from Samuel Johnson’s famous quote about London)
There is a peacefulness in Glendalough that really helps restore the spirit. Although the historic site is busiest during the Summer, I think it is magical during the winter months as the photographs in Donncha O’Caoimh’s photoblog prove.

This photograph of the Lower Lake in particular is a “desert island” photograph - a photograph you would want with you on a desert island. Looking at it you can feel the wind and hear the gentle lapping of the water on the lakes. Magic.

  1. Glad you like the photo! It’s a wonderful place and I’m only sorry I didn’t have more time to explore the upper lake and walk around a bit more!

  1. […] Wicklow News used one of my Glendalough photos, thanks for the link back! […]
