RNLI needs our support
The RNLI today called for more funds to help continue its life saving work. There are over 40 lifeboat stations on the island of Ireland with 2 in County Wicklow (Arklow and Wicklow). Last year, the RNLI rescued over 1,100 people who found themselves in difficulty at sea.
Kilmore Quay and Dun Laoghaire stations were the busiest in the country with 50 launches and 150 people rescued.
The RNLI says that funding the life saving effort is not easy and the call has gone for people to remember the RNLI and support the cause.
Recently a civvies day which took place in six schools in Wicklow raised €1,669.74 for the RNLI.
Donations to the RNLI can be made on the RNLI Website or contacting the fundraising committee of either the Arklow or Wicklow lifeboat. Contact details for the Wicklow station is 0404-67163. Contact the Arklow station on 0402-32850. Full details of each station are on the RNLI website.
