Bray Town Council consultation over flood threat - 100 years too late?
A Public Consultation Day has been arranged by Bray Town Council to allow the public to discuss flood protection proposals for the River Dargle in Bray.
Anyone from the town or surrounding areas with relevant information (old records, photographs, videos, newspaper articles) should bring it along on the day. Members of the flood study team and environmental consultants will be present throughout.
The consultation day takes place on Monday 10th April at Bray Town Hall between 2pm-5pm and 6pm to 9pm
Bray has suffered from flooding on numerous occasions. In 1741 Bray Bridge was completely destroyed. The seafront in Bray was flooded 5 times between 1860 and 1877. In the last 100 years, there have been four major floods in Little Bray – the low lying areas most at risk from the Dargle river flooding. The most recent flood was in 1986.
