Timmins urges Wicklow County Council to scrap changes to County Development plan
Deputy Billy Timmins, Fine Gael has called on Wicklow County Council to scrap its latest changes to the County Development Plan which he believes is unfair and is being used in a manner which makes it more difficult for people to get a house. He pointed out that the new policy in addition to other draconian implications is being used by the Council to preclude people from building in their native area.
People who are originally from a rural area and are renting in larger towns in the county (levels 1 to 5) are now being refused permission to build in their home area even though they do not own a house.
Deputy Timmins has called on the elected members of Wicklow County Council to table a motion requiring the County Manager and Director of Planning to be responsible for the implementation of the spirit and intention of the Development Plan as opposed to the current situation whereby the plan is being cherry picked to assist in refusing planning.
