Bray and Greystones achieve Fairtrade status

Both Bray and Greystones have achieved Fairtrade town status. The steering committees for both localities have been working hard for many months to bring it about.

The purpose of Fairtrade is to tackle poverty by enabling disadvantaged producers from poor countries to receive a better deal for the products (such as coffee and tea) which they grow.

In order to achieve Fairtrade town status,  Six goals had to be realised which involved the support of retailailer, churches, schools and voluntary bodies.

Congratulations to all involved.
