Wicklow Summer Family Walk 2007 - The Date is Set

The 6th Annual Wicklow Summer Family Walk will be held on Sunday 27th May 2007. All proceeds from the walk go directly to the Irish Cancer Society. To date, an incredible €83,000 has been raised from these walks.

Panasonic Ireland, who are market leaders in the field of consumer electronics, will again be the main sponsor with additional generous sponsorship from the Arklow Bay Hotel, Coca Cola, The Leitrim Lounge, and Lawless Automotive.

Sponsorship cards will be available from local retail outlets in Wicklow Town, Rathnew, Glenealy and Ashford from the beginning of March. Cards will also be available on www.wicklowsummerfamilywalk.com website. Additional information, photographs, and videos can be found on the website as well.

The walk will begin at the Leitrim Lounge at 3pm, travelling north along the Wicklow Coastline to Killoughter Railway Station where refreshments will be served, returning the same route and finishing back at the Leitrim Lounge, where certificates will be presented to all who complete the walk. Sandwiches, tea and coffee will also be served and the various sponsors prizes will be presented including 10 Panasonic electrical products.

Sponsors for the walkers are very important and they will be recognised one month later, on June 27th, where an additional draw will take place for them in the Leitrim Lounge for 10 more Panasonic electrical products.

The Irish Cancer Society (www.cancer.ie) will spend €2.6 million on cancer research this coming year. Almost €2.1 million will be spent on 40 basic projects, and a further €300,000 will be invested in clinical trials. This will help Irish patients avail of the latest treatments available.

Quite simply, there is no better way to spend a summer Sunday in May than an invigorating walk along the beautiful Wicklow coast. The old adage “every penny/cent counts” is so important to remember where the fight against cancer is concerned.
