Bridgewater Centre Arklow Opening Events

The Bridgewater Centre in Arklow is due to open on October 4th. The centre has 4 days of events planned from Thursday 4th to Sunday 7th October.

You would not know about these 4 days of events by looking at the Bridgewater Centre Website. At the time of writing this (25th September), the most up to date news on the site is about the appointment of the shopping centre manager. That was months ago. Fair enough, maybe the website doesn’t figure as part of their “morkeshing” strategy in advance of the opening, but it wouldn’t take 10 minutes to put something up there for people who might be interested.

Anywhoo, I gleaned the following from the Wicklow Times and replicate it here for all you shopaholics out there.

First off the BIG news is that Joanna Lumley will be at the centre on Thursday 4th October. That’s her below on the right as she appeared in ‘Absolutely Fabulous’. Couldn’t resist using that picture as it has quite an apt quote from the series.

Thursday 4th October:

Meet the world’s most flamboyant spender – Joanna Lumley! Enjoy a glass of bubbly and try your luck at our Grab a Grand Machine. See the Bridgewater “Wizard”, Face Painters, Cartoon Characters, Stilt Walkers, and of course lots of SHOPPING!

Friday 5th October:

Tremble with trepidation as Team Guinot Aerobatic Display Team perform amazing feats in the air! Get another chance at our Grab a Grand machine. And your kids will love the Circus School, Mime Artist, Face Painters, Cartoon Characters, Stilt Walkers, Balloons, and even more SHOPPING!

Saturday 6th October:

The Irish Parachute Club will dazzle you with airborne acrobatics! There’ll be more cash up for grabs with our Grab a Grand Machine. And there’ll be super Close Up Magic, a Puppet Show, Face Painters, Balloon Modellers and much more!

Sunday 7th October:

You’ll love the Arklow Marching Band. Go see a Blockbuster (cinema open from Thursday 4th) or go nuts over the Cartoon Characters. Make the most of your last chance at the Grab a Grand Machine but don’t forget the Face Painters and Balloon Modellers!

All in all, the 4 days looks like a good line up the management have organised. The place is bound to be swamped. It’s a much needed jobs boost for Arklow and the overall economy in the town. Good look to all concerned.
