Katie Taylor wins gold

Bray boxer Katie Taylor, has taken the gold medal in the Europen championships for the third year in a row. Her opponent in the final was Sandra Brugger from Switzerland.
Taylor was declared the winner in the second round on the 15 point rule. This rule means that the referee has to stop the match once a boxer gains a 15 point advantage. The rule applies automatically with the exception of the final round.
Katie made Irish boxing history in May 2005 at the age of 18, when she became the first Irish woman to win a gold medal at the senior European championships.
