Wicklow News headline on Arklow job losses - Chandler Bing would be proud!
Anyone who watched Friends on TV will know of a character called Chandler Bing. He was the joker of the pack and found some humour in everything. If there was an obvious double entendre or punchline in the air, he had to make use of it or he might explode.
So it must have been with the Wicklow News this week. Their report on the 360 job losses in Arklow was extremely short but the story ran under the headline “Booby Trapped”
A thread on politics.ie had every joke imaginable too. Here’s some samples.
“I heard they moved because the salaries were over-inflated”
to which the reply came: “That’s the spirit. Storm in a D-cup”
“IDA should have given them more support as sales were getting saggy.”
“Westport probably next to feel the squeeze !”
“I hope the Minister is keeping abreast of the situation.”
“It only emphasises the cleavage that has opened up between the manufacturing and services industries.”
“Bertie should go down there and bring the workers to his bosom and comfort them!”
“There has to be knocker-on effects. Something like this has wider implications.”
“Alright, enough jokes lads. Ye’re milking it a bit.”
