Guided tours are a great way to pack a lot into a days visit to Glendalough but the time constraints of a day tour will mean that you really on get a flavour of what the location has to offer. Nevertheless, these tour operators have a superb reputation and it will whet your appetite for a return visit so you can explore the area even more.
The tours listed below begin and end in Dublin and they mostly cover the same itinerary.
Wild Wicklow Tour
The Wild Wicklow Tour runs from Dublin every day and is a familiar sight on the road to Glendalough. There are 5 pick up points :

Jury’s Hotel, Ballsbridge

The cost of a full day is €28 for an adult and €25 for students/children.

Day Tours Unplugged
Your day tour with Day Tours Unplugged is on a 24 seater Mercedes mini coach. After leaving Dublin the tour takes a similar route as the Wild Wicklow Tour and also stops off at Avoca Handweavers for morning tea/coffee.
Lunch will also be in an Irish pub and many people will have a pint of Guinness along with their lunch. The tour also takes in Glencree International Reconciliation Centre and along the way back to Dublin you will get to see where movies such as Braveheart, Excalibur, Michael Collins and Reign of Fire were filmed.
Pricing is also €28 for adults and the Student price is listed as €26.

Coach Tours of Ireland
This day tour departs Dublin at 9.00 and returns for 5.00 approx. It leaves from Dublin Tourist Office on Suffolk Street. There is a 30 minute stop at Glencree Reconciliation Centre for morning coffee or tea. Then the tour goes higher into the mountains and through the Sally Gap with a stop at Lough Tay and a the perfect photo opportunity.
From the vantage point at Lough Tay, the tour descends into Glendalough Valley for a guide tour of the monastic site and plenty of opportunity for walking in the valley and taking in the scenery of the lakes.
There is a lunch stop in Avoca and a stop off at the Meeting of the Waters in the Vale of Avoca, which was made famous by the Irish Poet Thomas Moore.
Cost of the tour is €24 for adults and €22 for students.

Over the top Tours
Departing from The Gresham Hotel on O’Connell Street in Dublin at 9.20 am and the Dublin Tourism Office, Suffolk Street at 9.45 am, Over the top tours takes the Sally Gap route into Glendalough. The return journey back to Dublin takes the Wicklow Way route out of valley and towards Blessington.
Tour cost is €26 for adults and €24 for students.

Paddywagon Tours
Paddywagon Tours offer a 1 day trip to Kilkenny which takes in Glendalough along the way.
The tour only runs on a Sunday and it leaves Dublin at 8am. Cost on the website is in sterling (£18) which converts to about €27.
