Wicklow 400 - February 26th
February 26th, 2006 is the 400th anniversary of County Wicklow. Wicklow was the last region in Ireland 400 years ago to be given county status. Pat Doyle of Wicklow County Tourism is in charge of the committee set up to commemorate this event throughout the year.
One of the first projects that has been undertaken is the complete 400 year history of County Wicklow going online at Wicklow.ie
It is hugely comprehensive and is based on the book “The Last County - The Emergence of Wicklow as a County 1606-1845″ by the Wicklow Heritage Project.
