Sandwich empire headed by Wicklow man
O’Briens Irish Sandwich Bars have recently appointed Fiacra Nagle as Chief Executive, taking over the position held by founder Brody Sweeney. Mr. Nagle is a native of Wicklow and was previously managing director of O’Briens.
He has been a driving force behind the Irish business since joining the company in 2000. Opening over 100 stores in over 5 years, Mr. Nagle has developed the business in a very competitive marketplace.
We hope to have an interview with Mr. Nagle here on Wicklow.com news in the not too distant future.

Wicklow.com recently undertook a small piece of market research on O’Briens and entered a store for the first time this week
The following items were purchased : A Wrappo with organic hummous, roasted peppers and salad, a Sprite Zero and a packet of O’Briens salt and balsamic vinegar crisps. Yes, it is a bit of a contradiction to buy a sprite zero and a packet of crisps but this was market research.
The Wrappo was absolutely delicious, one of the tastiest I have ever consumed. The O’Briens salt and vinegar crisps were way too salt and vinegary. They left my mouth absolutely parched for the rest of the day and only a couple of litres of water and a good gargle of mouthwash restored order to the tastebuds. I don’t know who makes the crisps for O’Briens but someone in the factory has a very heavy had when it comes the flavouring. Sprite zero was what it was.
Will this be the first and last visit to O’Briens. Definitely not. That Wrappo will become my Friday treat from now on.
