€400,000 for Wicklow 400 Celebrations

Minister Dick Roche announced that funding of €400,000 has been allocated by the Department of Environment, Heritage and Local Government to the Wicklow 400 celebrations.
Speaking at the launch event on Saturday evening he said : “I am very pleased that my tenure as Minister for Local Government falls into this celebratory period for Wicklow and that I am in a position to assist through funding of €400,000 from my Department with the many activities that will take place in County Wicklow during the year. Half of that funding will be to support the many Community events that are on ‘ the very rich menu’ that has been put together and the other half will be a grant towards the provision of the permanent exhibition space that the Council plans for Greystones Library. A permanent reminder of Wicklow 400 and of at least one aspect of Wicklow’s sometimes turbulent but always interesting history. ”

When I applied for financial assistance for a “Wicklow 400″ project I was not even granted the courtesy of an acknowledgement.

Hi Mattie, did you get back in contact with them. It’s a very poor show if the council didn’t even reply especially since that is the job they are there to do, serve the people of Wicklow.

I wrote to the County Manager twice on the advice of Dick Roche. The same result; No reply.

Can anyone tell me what happened to the €400,000.
They don’t seem to have the price of a stamp left.
