Photographer says threats made at match

A photographer has alleged that he was threatened and jostled while attempting to do his job at last Sunday’s Wicklow IHC semi-final.

Garry O’Neill says he was attempting to take pictures of the row which flared up in the car park outside Pearse Park after the decider between St. Patrick’s and Glenealy when he was allegedly pushed, shoved and verbally abused by supporters from both clubs.

“Some supporters were on the field after the game picking up the flags and trying to hit the players,” O’Neill says.
“It calmed down for a little while, but then it flared up again in the car park.

“As I tried to take photographs of the row, people kept knocking into me or putting their hands across the lens.
“So then I went into the car park and there I was threatened and abused.
“There were younger lads throwing stones at me.

“I was told I’d have my camera broken.”
