Arklow man charged with murder of Dublin nurse

A 25 year old man from Arklow has been charged with the murder of 31 year old nurse, Sara Neligan. Ms Neligan was found stabbed in her Dublin apartment last Thursday night. She is the daughter of Mr. Maurice Neligan, a prominent heart surgeon.
Brian McBarron appeared in Dublin district court today charged with the murder in an apartment on Pearse Street. McBarron lived in the same apartment complex.
Detective Sergeant Brian Duffy told the court this morning that when Mr McBarron was charged with Ms Neligan’s murder he replied “I am sorry for what I have done”.
Judge John Coughlan granted an application by the defence solicitor to have McMahon assessed medically and psychologically. No application for bail was made. He was remanded to appear at Clover Hill District Court next Friday.
