Adsense for Darfur

The situation in Darfur is getting worse. Just received a letter from Concern today about their Emergency Appeal. Although the UN hasn’t gone as far as to say that what has/is occuring is genocide, others have and I don’t see any other word for it. Nothing can be done for those murdered, but the 2.5 million people who have been displaced need our help. The world said “Never again” after World War II. Here we are in 2007 and it is happening again.

I would urge you to visit the concern donation page (or any other aid agency page) and send what you can. €60 (a fill of petrol for many a car in Ireland today) can help concern buy essential plastic sheeting for shelter.

In addition to a regular donation I am donating my adsense earnings for this month and last month as well. Not looking for any claps on the back but hoping that more bloggers will pick up on this ‘Adsense for Darfur’ idea and help whatever way they can.

To show your support for this idea, just leave a comment on this page and use the graphic provided and post it on your blog and link back to this post or just put an explanatory post on your own site and let people know what you’re doing.

  1. Hi Alan!

Fair dues to you for highlighting the Darfur situation… I’ve signed the petitions, passed them on to friends, and given a donation, but I didn’t even know about the Adsense campaign. I’ve been bad at updating my blog lately (’seem to be suffering from a backlash of too much work/study :-)) but I’ll investigate this now and try to get it up on my blog, too. As I said, fair dues to you!

  2. Hi Noeleen, it’s just something I came up with myself. There are so many bloggers in Ireland now and although the money isn’t huge off my adsense compared with some big name bloggers, it’s still enough to help fund a truck to transfer supplies to Khartoum (€120).

Anything you can do to help spread the word about ‘Adsense for Darfur’ campaign would be appreciated.

    Alan
